PRA Tools - Maya PRA Menu

The PRA Toolkit provides some small enhancement to the Maya user interface and will - after install and restart - become directly present within Autodesk Maya.

PRA Menu

In the main Maya window you should be able to find a menu item called PRA. This contains all the functionality you'll need to get started and can help you further with the process of its usage.

fig.1 - This is what the PRA menu item in the main Maya window will most likely look like.

Current User

At the top you'll be able to find the current user working on this PC. This information will be used when saving out files, submitting progress to the manager, submitting shots for review and for submitting feedback for these tools. If no user is currently logged in the menu item will read "Log in..." and will present an interface for logging in and/or the creation of an account.

Quick List

The list after the first seperator - containing AniReminder, -Management and -Review in the example - is a user defined list of tools the user has installed and has listed here himself. This list can contain an infinite amount of tools that the user wants to have close when Maya just booted up wherever he is. The list often contains tools that help managing, reviewing and checking progress.

Tool Manager

Within the tool manager the user can manage his installed tools and uninstall or change its settings. But even more the tool manager provides a central point to find more relevant tools for your own workflow over time. As development in the field of computer animation is a constant process this allows for the newest techniques to come available to you from inside Maya and even include new modules for the AniToolkit, AniViewer or other bigger products you already own.

Even more it provides a way to keep track of new updates to already installed tools and it will make sure you're always using the latest version without the hassle of going online and checking yourself.

The tool manager's mains screen will show the most searched tags of the last 24 hours and makes sure you're up-to-date with the most popular techniques of that day. Even more it features a 'Tool of the month' showing a tool of extremely high quality and effectivity. Also, any data from the list of tools can be filter and rearranged based on the users needs, like popularity, reviews, downloads, name and so forth.

The tool manager's update and download functionality require a working internet connection. A medium to high speed connection is recommended for downloading extensive modules.

Submit Feedback

Within the PRA menu item in the main Maya window you can find the option to submit feedback. It will pop up a small interface that should be easy to use; submitting bug reports, additional ideas or just any questions in general can be easily done there from within Maya.

If you have not been able to install the PRA software itself and want to submit feedback you can send an e-mail with your system specs, operating system, version of Maya and what the problem is to: Roy_Nieterau@hotmail.com

With the submission of feedback the data sent contains your user name so we're able to reply to your submissions to answer any questions or problems you've addressed. If you don't want to be contacted about such information you can check the 'Anonymous' checkbox and then no personal data will be sent with the exception of the entered feedback message and the information manually entered in the feedback submission form itself.
